Build time: 30.5 hours

The Dovetail Advisory website is representative of a minor site build from BinaryPusher’s B2B design support service. For Axiom DP, this is the first build BinaryPusher has completed, and we’re pleased to say there were only minor complications with only a small number of revisions, due to difficulties interpreting the source materials.

• Parallax hero and feature images with watermark and overlay shading – allowing the uploaded hero image to scroll at a different rate to the page content, creates an extra depth to the page on scroll.
• Mega and Sticky Sub-menu – interior pages within a given section can be easily navigated thanks to the left hand submenu’s continued presence on the page during scroll, without blocking any content.
• Smooth transitions on page elements to move into position – multiple elements on each page fading into view with an additional transformation to gently slide it into place as it comes into the browser viewport.

Initial Source Materials

The design was provided in Adobe Photoshop as a small set of example layouts, a homepage, a subpage and a product/service page. One indicative mobile mock-up was also provided to give guidance to smaller screens.

Our Build

The design is clean and bold, with tasteful sweeps of motion as signature and watermark elements enter the browser view. This build is a good representation of a brochure statement site.

Custom Plugins

People – This is our most common plugin, allowing site administrators to configure key user profiles with additional fields such as name, position, credentials, feature image and much more. The plugin is a simple implementation of WordPress’ custom post type, so there’s zero bloat to code and output.

News Items – A slight enhancement to the standard WordPress Post object. We added an ability to configure an external URL to override any local url so that posts could reference an external website without the annoying click to an internal article, only to have to click again to go to the external article.
